me to we
In fourth grade at my elementary school, through an afterschool program I was exposed to Me to We, an organization rooted in providing education to children in developing countries. This organization over the years has transformed into one that tackles the world's most pressing issues by connecting each kind of work to one of the seventeen UN Goals. After I graduated from my old school, I took a bit of a haitus from working with Me to We. However, last year after doing a significant amount of research, I was able to establish connection between my current school and the organization. This meant that my highschool could recieve resources that they didn't initially have access to. Additionally, our school was eligible to recieve grants from the organization for certain service work. Being a part of Me to We has meant that I have had access to information and service opportunities that have given me a greater perspective on global issues and volunteering overall.
full circle
One of my favorite pastimes is thrift shopping. Not only is thrift shopping a fantastic way to reduce energy and waste, but there is something so appealing to me about the life story behind a piece of clothing. Full Circle, a local thrift shop, is a community store that supports peace and justice work. The specifically work to promote social, economic and sustainable justice for the greater community. Being able to combine two of my passions for service work has made these experiences so much more fulfilling and rewarding.
